Choose Create a table for a mystery opening drawn from 100 board shapes. Choose 4, 6 or 8 distinct piece types per army, including the royal. Ban any unwanted piece types before rolling. The board, army, ranks and capture rules appear after creation. The main armies begin in mirrored positions with a move available to each unit. One in 50 eligible mystery openings also deals Nic to a single randomly chosen side. Both players see the draw before accepting the table. To exclude Nic, add Nic to your bans. Just play chess opens a standard 8×8 board with castling, en passant, promotion and checkmate.
An open table appears under Open seats in the lobby. A private table is reachable through its invitation. While waiting, use Copy invitation. Open the link in a second wallet-enabled browser, sign in with a different wallet, and choose Join as black. Localhost links work on the host computer. Starting and playing
Review the posted RNNR entry fee and optional stake. At the default 1,000 RNNR price the host can cover both seats or choose a 500/500 split. Each player reviews their own quote. At least 1,000,000 RNNR held in that player's connected wallet waives their share. Once both players accept, Chess charges only their accepted amounts and reserves both optional stakes atomically. A new table quotes the current operator price. Leaving an active table returns unsettled stakes. The entry pays for the game and is permanent once play starts.
Select a piece to read its movement. The highlighted destinations use the rules saved in this table. Select a destination, then press the clock to hand the turn to the other player. A move and clock press survive a refresh. Before pressing the clock you can undo your own move, including a capture. After the clock, discuss the last move and propose a takeback. The other player must agree before the position changes.
Picking up Dogecoin or Gork commits your turn and reveals its movement. Putting it back spends the move. Undoing or taking back a turn with a revealed piece restores the same roll. Fartcoin must finish isolated and removes an enemy that lands beside it. The Call check button announces check to both players in chat. Players can continue after a call.
Nic begins as a queen that can jump over either side’s pieces. Gaps in the board block its path. Capture Nic and it returns as an ordinary rook. The next capture brings it back as a knight, then as a pawn. A fourth capture removes it. Each return uses its original home square, or the nearest empty square if home is occupied. At equal distance the game picks the first square from the top left of White’s board. Its final pawn moves one square forward, captures diagonally forward, and stays a pawn at the far edge. A replay preserves the original draw.
Unc starts near the middle on a central file, with the opposing Unc in the mirrored position. Unc retreats one or two empty squares straight backward and needs a clear route. Its only capture is one square straight forward. That capture can take any enemy, including the royal.
On a downgrade board, captured nonroyal pieces return to their vacant home squares one rank weaker until their last life. A captured rank-four piece returns as a rook, a captured rook as a bishop and a captured bishop as a pawn. The Phoenix Queen can return once as a rook. Capture an ordinary piece on its home square or occupy its home to prevent that return. Nic uses its own four-life rule in both variants.
Capturing the royal in Shuffle or checkmating in Classic sets up the winning result. The mover can undo before pressing the clock. Pressing the clock ends the game and settles the posted stake. Classic also recognizes stalemate, insufficient material, fivefold repetition and 75 moves by each side without a capture or pawn advance. Both players can agree on a result during play.
While waiting alone, reroll the mystery board or edit its squares and pieces. With two players seated, a new opening, edit or switch to Classic requires the opponent’s agreement. Review the proposed board before accepting. The starting side, capture rule and house notes belong to that opening. Effects such as SelfieDogCoin’s long slide use the painted light or dark colors. If an edit removes a surviving piece’s original home square, the square it occupies becomes its new home. An accepted new opening resets the position and move sheet. The original entry fee still covers the table.
Keeping a discovery
Save a named opening to your private journal. To save a position in progress, finish the current turn first. Replaying that position restores the pieces, the side to move and the applicable movement rules. A Classic position also remembers castling and en passant rights.
After play ends, either player can publish the game to the Clubhouse. There is one shared entry for the table. Public games have discussion and a one-to-ten rating per wallet. Play this opening creates a fresh table from the saved position. Both seats review its current entry price. Private table chat stays with the original match.
